Fantasy Football Bust Alert: Dez Bryant

Welcome in to Beast the Odds for this year’s edition of Fantasy Football Bust Alert. Each year we select a high-profile player, top 10 at their position, who is not going to live up to expectations. This year the Beast the Odds Fantasy Football Bust Alert is Dez Bryant.

Fantasy Football Bust Alert: Dez Bryant

Dez Bryant has one of the toughest corner back schedules in all of football. The first three weeks of the season are an absolute gauntlet. Week 1: Janoris Jenkins, Week 2: Aqib Talib, Week 3: Patrick Peterson. Based on these match-ups Bryant will be nothing more than a flex option in most leagues. If you get more than 5 points out of Bryant in any of these first three games, count yourself lucky.

Moving into the remaining schedule Bryant does not get a break. Week 7 and Week 12 have Bryant facing off against Josh Norman of the Washington Redskins. Norman has given top receivers fits the last two seasons. In week 8 the Cowboys will be facing the stingy Kansas City Chiefs defense and top cornerback Marcus Peters.

As Bryant and your struggling team move toward the Fantasy Football playoffs Janoris Jenkins of the Giants will coming knocking again in week 13. Finally, if you are lucky enough to get into the playoffs and make it to the championship game, good luck facing Richard Sherman and the Seattle Seahawks.

Based on the match-ups reviewed, I would not take Bryant until the 4-5 rounds. This is without getting into the impact of the Elliot suspension on the Cowboys offense. Teams facing the Cowboys during the suspension will not be stacking the box. This will result in double coverage for Bryant and even less points.

Good luck in your draft and avoid this Fantasy Football Bust. Bang it here for some value wide receivers.
